The Decameron is a collection of novellas by Giovanni Boccaccio, written between 1348 and 1353. It tells the story of ten young people who retreat to the countryside to escape the Black Death and entertain themselves by telling stories. The Decameron explores themes of love, lust, and the human condition. It is considered a precursor to Decadent literature.
