Tsurugaoka Hachimangu is the most important Shinto shrine in Kamakura. It was founded in 1063 and is dedicated to Hachiman, the god of war and the patron deity of the samurai. The shrine complex is surrounded by beautiful gardens, ponds, and cherry blossom trees. Take a peaceful walk through the grounds, admire the architecture of the main hall, and witness traditional ceremonies if you're lucky.
