The Jerónimos Monastery, located in the Belém district, is a magnificent example of Manueline architecture and is considered one of the most impressive monastic complexes in Europe. Built in the 16th century, it was commissioned by King Manuel I to commemorate Vasco da Gama's successful voyage to India. The monastery's intricate stone carvings, cloisters, and grandeur are truly awe-inspiring. Inside, visitors can explore the church, the cloisters, and the Maritime Museum, which is housed in the monastery's west wing.
